Frequently Asked Questions
Should the diagnostic code DS098C Let hovedtraume (GCS 14–15) be used according to the definition in the Scandinavian Neurotrauma Committee (SNC) guidelines?
No. The code should be applied to all patients with head trauma and a Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score of 14–15 at the time of admission, including those who would be classified as “minimal” according to the SNC guidelines.
Which patients belong in the category “øget blødningstendens”?
“Øget blødningstendens” refers to patients with alcohol abuse, liver disease, or bleeding disorders - not those receiving anticoagulant (AK) therapy, which is listed as a separate risk factor.
What if we cannot measure S100B?
All participating emergency departments can, as a general rule, measure S100B. If S100B is temporarily unavailable or more than 6 hours have passed since the injury, a CT scan should be performed (and the patient discharged if normal). Observation is only required if the CT scan is abnormal.
